Worship has always been the central act of Christian Faith. Like most United Methodist congregations, First UMC of Gainesville follows the ancient four-fold pattern of Christian Worship: Gathering; Proclamation; Thanksgiving; Sending Forth. We believe that traditions like the liturgy, the annual practice of church seasons, and the singing of hymns and melodies composed long ago all help us connect with Christians throughout the ages. But there's a great deal of room for creativity in Christian tradition and literally every traditional act of worship was once "contemporary."
On Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, we launched two new worship experiences, Word & Table at 8:15 a.m. and Refresh at 9:00 a.m., while maintaining our longstanding Traditional Worship experience at 10:45 a.m. The tabs at the top of the page will help you explore each of our three modes of worship.
We are pleased to share the renewal of our worship life with our community and hope that the diversity of worship experience we have created--and will continue to create--will help you find a home with us.
